Dr. Andrea Pezzella is a double board-certified Urogynecologist specializing in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery. She earned her medical degree from St. Louis University and completed her residency in OB/GYN at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut, followed by advanced fellowship training in urogynecology at the Fallon Clinic in Worcester, MA, where she later co-directed the Urogynecology Clinic.
In 2010, Dr. Pezzella founded Southern Urogynecology: The Center for Incontinence and Female Pelvic Medicine—the first and only center of its kind in the Midlands dedicated to women with pelvic floor and voiding disorders. Her practice provides state-of-the-art treatments for pelvic organ prolapse, urinary conditions, and cosmetic gynecology, with a mission to improve women’s quality of life through compassionate, specialized care.
Recognizing her patients’ broader needs in the Midlands, Dr. Pezzella expanded her vision in 2017 by creating SU Wellness & Aesthetics, a complementary division that integrates hormone optimization, aesthetic medicine, and advanced technologies for pelvic, vaginal, and facial health. Her goal is to offer women a comprehensive, whole-person approach to wellness, beauty, and vitality at every stage of life.
A respected leader in her field, Dr. Pezzella is a Key Opinion Leader in Urogynecology and Neuromodulation, a proctor and clinical trainer for surgical device procedures, and a Center of Excellence designee for Axonics, Bulkamid, and InterStim. She actively participates in cutting edge clinical research, advisory boards, and national speakers’ bureaus while maintaining her commitment to surgical innovation, including robotic surgery and pelvic floor reconstruction.
Dr. Pezzella continues to pioneer in the “For Women by Women” approach in collaboration with her partner, Dr. Jessica J. Rueb, opening this fall 2025, SU Surgical Associates, a groundbreaking ambulatory surgical center designed exclusively for Urogynecologic services —where medical excellence meets elegant comfort. From gynecologic surgery to aesthetic wellness procedures, every detail has been curated to support, heal, and empower women at every stage of life.
The new facility redefines what a surgical experience can feel like. Featuring the latest in minimally invasive surgical technology, including pelvic floor reconstruction, minimally invasive procedures for urinary incontinence and advanced cosmetic gynecologic procedures, SU Surgical Associates delivers hospital-grade care in a serene, boutique environment. Beyond her practice, Dr. Pezzella is involved in community outreach and participates in teaching with the Ob/Gyn residents and undergraduate students of the University of South Carolina. In Dr. Pezzella’s free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, pickleball, summers on Cape Cod, cooking, and wine tasting with her husband, Dr. Vince Vismara, and their two adult children, Luke and Isabella.
